Spring Enrichment Groups

Nature Explorers:

Dates: Every WEDNESDAY in May (May 6th- May 27th); 4 weeks

Time: 4:30pm-6:00pm

Cost: $150 total

Who: Children ages 5-10 (child does not need to qualify for occupational therapy- all are welcome to inquire)

Location: Parker Mill County Park 4650 Geddes Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105

*Please inquire about children outside of the age window or for different days/times so we know whether to add additional groups!

*Child must be able to stay with a group for safety purposes.

  • Led by licensed pediatric Occupational Therapist. These enrichment groups are not occupational therapy services, but enrichment groups to help foster skills, relationships, adventure, and FUN in the outdoors!

  • Small groups of 4-8 children

  • Drop-off for group or caregiver is welcome to stay. Parents/caregivers are welcome to hike the surrounding trails and enjoy nature

At our Spring enrichment groups, we come in with a plan in mind and materials ready. However, we want this experience to be led by the child’s interests, so the plan may change based on the groups ideas and plan. We will always incorporate creativity and leave space for the children to design, even when given materials and a prompt/idea. We hold boundaries and structure, but leave room for imagination, creativity, and plenty of play! Below is a sample of how an 6 week Spring enrichment plan may look:

Sample Schedule

🌱 Week 1: Welcome to Spring!
Theme: Noticing Seasonal Changes
Skills: Sensory awareness, attention, social connection

Activity: Spring nature scavenger hunt (buds, bird sounds, green shoots, insects).

Creative: Press flowers or create a “signs of spring” nature collage.

Reflection: Share one new thing you noticed about spring.

🌳 Week 2: Forest Builders
Theme: Engineering in Nature
Skills: Executive functioning, teamwork, motor planning, spatial awareness

Activity: Work together to build a fort, fairy house, or woodland shelter.

Creative: Design and decorate structures with natural materials.

Reflection: Talk about what helped your team build successfully.

🌊 Week 3: Water Explorers
Theme: Spring Water & Sensory Play
Skills: Sensory processing, cooperation, problem solving

Activity: Build small streams or dams with sticks, rocks, and mud.

Creative: Nature potion-making with water, petals, leaves, and mud.

Reflection: Discuss how the water moved and what helped it flow.

🌼 Week 4: Spring Celebration
Theme: Growth & Gratitude in Nature
Skills: Self-expression, social connection, emotional awareness

Activity: Memory nature walk revisiting favorite places from the group.

Creative: Make nature crowns, mandalas, or a spring keepsake.

Reflection: Share your favorite moment from the spring group.
